Weald and Downland Museum Trip
Years 1 and 2 took a trip to the Weald and Downland Museum this week to discover what life was like before electricity. The children enjoyed looking inside the old buildings and asking questions about the artefacts. On the day they visited an old school, a mill powered by a water wheel and a Tudor kitchen. As well as exploring inside the buildings the children saw how families kept their gardens filled with herbs and vegetables to eat. The children took the time to sketch some of the buildings and we were impressed with their attention to detail. We are looking forward to our ‘back in time’ day to continue our history work in school.

We have been learning about sound in our science lessons. Over the last few weeks we have carried out lots of practical investigations to help us to understand what pitch is and how sound travels. We had fun testing different surfaces to see how an echo is made and we now know how our ears hear sounds. We needed to use our listening ears to tune in to what was happening. We will be making shakers next and adding our own materials to try to change the type of sound inside the shaker.
