KS1 Progress
Key Stage One Progress
What are the issues?
- Quality of teaching (delivery).
- Amount of progress made.
- Tracking of progress (Afl, monitoring).
- Timetable- opportunities to choose.
- Differentiation.
How will these be resolved?
– Succes Criteria
- All FS and KS1 teachers will use the school targets to plan maths, reading, and writing.
- All FS and KS1 teachers will monitor/track the progress of individuals half termly and identify children in need of intervention work through the appropriate channels (SEN support, LSA provision, focused teaching e.g jump ahead program).
- All FS and KS1 teachers will aim to achieve their end of year targets.
- All FS and KS1 teachers will continue to adapt/tailor the timetable to provide practical and differentiated sessions.
- All FS and KS1 teachers will plan and work together to ensure initiatives are shared e.g narrative therapy, phonics, practical maths.
- All FS and KS1 teachers will use Afl strategies daily to monitor the needs of individual pupils. They will act on this to inform planning, LSAs, resources, and learning.
How will know if we have been successful?
- Improved KS1 results (to meet/exceed national expectations in Yr R-Yr 2).
- Our teaching will be consistently good or better.
- Children’s work will show quality learning and skills.
- Children will show skills of independence.
What progress has been made?
- Maths is taught in groups and the activity/ resources are planned to match thegroup’s targets.
- The timetable for KS1 now includes focus sessions for writing, maths, phonics and handwriting. These sessions are short and practical with a focus on the children’s targets.
- Writing sessions now include ‘narrative therapy’ to develop children’s awareness of a narrative.
- Resources are shared across the key stage and new resources funded by ‘Friends of Medmerry’ are used regularly to support practical maths and phonics sessions.
- Children’s independent writing is assessed and moderated as a key stage at half termly intervals.
- KS1 teachers assess mathematics on a half termly basis and the children are given the opportunity to review their targets.
