While there’s still plenty of holiday to go, details of the return to school are here. School is closed for Inset on Monday 3rd September. Uniform orders which have been delivered to school can be collected between 11am and noon on the Inset Day, or when school re-opens.
Pupils returning to Years 1-6 return to school on Tuesday 4th September. The doors will be open from 8.30am, with school starting at 8.45am.
Please bring PE kits and lunches (if you don’t have a school lunch). Please remember that we will provide all stationery, including pencil cases for older pupils, so please do not buy any pencil cases or stationery for school over the summer: save the money for a good book instead!
Children in Years 1 and 2 should enter via the classroom doors in the playground; children in Years 3 to 6 enter via the main entrance.
New Reception Pupils
We operate a staggered start for Reception pupils, based on dates of birth, with the youngest children starting first.
- Summer-born children (birthdays from May to August) will begin, mornings only, on Tuesday 4th September
- Spring-born children (birthdays January to April) will begin, mornings only, on Thursday 6th September
- Autumn-born chlidren (birthdays September to December) begin with full days on Monday 10th September.
Children can be taken directly to the conservatory entrance of the Reception classroom.
Uniform which was ordered before the end of July should arrive in school at the start of term. Orders placed during August will not arrive until mid-September. Orders for items bearing the school logo can be placed at http://medmerry.gooddies.co.uk/. Families are also welcome to buy plain burgundy sweaters and cardigans from supermarkets or online if they prefer.
Library Reading Challenge
We encourage all children to sign up to the West Sussex libraries Mischief Makers reading challenge. This free programme allows children to earn rewards for reading up to 6 books over the holiday. We will hold a special assembly in September to congratulate those who have participated in and those who have completed the challenge.
The school office and telephone line will remain closed until school returns on Tuesday 4th September. Messages sent to the school office email address (firstname.lastname@example.org) will be checked at least weekly during the holiday, as will messages sent via the Facebook page.
Enjoy the remaining weeks of the summer holiday, and we look forward to welcoming you all in September.
