The School Day
We begin the school day at 8:45am, although the classrooms are open from 8:30am to enable parents to drop off and children to get settled.
A 15 minute mid-morning break is provided for all children. We have an hour for lunch from 12pm – 1pm and the children eat in the school hall in two sittings. Each child will have a set lunch table which he or she joins each day made up of pupils from different year groups. Infant children have an additional playtime in the afternoon. School finishes at 3:15pm, and the children are released from their classrooms by their teachers and support staff.
If you need to make changes to your child’s collection arrangements, please contact the school office with plenty of notice, and before 3pm at the latest.
Through the universal infant free school meals scheme we can provide all children in Reception and Years 1 & 2 with a free of charge packed lunch, which is made on the premises.
A typical lunch contains a roll or sandwich (beef, chicken, ham, tuna or cheese), salad pot, homemade cheese straw or sausage roll, yogurt and a piece of fruit. There is plenty of variety through the week and we ring the changes to take advantage of seasonal fruit and vegetables.
You are of course welcome to send your child to school with their own packed lunch. We do ask that lunchboxes offer healthy choices which will promote your child’s learning.
Please note that we request that no sweets, chocolate bars or fizzy drinks are included in lunchboxes.
