Our latest Ofsted report

Our latest Ofsted inspection was carried out in December 2014 and a full copy can accessed via the Ofsted website.

The report confirmed Medmerry’s status as a good school, and acknowledged our many strengths. We were particularly pleased with these comments:

‘The school’s work to keep pupils safe and secure is outstanding.’

‘The school conducts its safeguarding  work very effectively…it  meets and exceeds statutory requirements.’

‘The school has developed very good relationships with parents and works with them well.’

‘The school is supported by a strong governing body… Their impact on school improvement and performance is good.’

‘[Schoolsworks Academy] Trust, the governors and the senior leadership team work well together.’

‘Pupils enjoy learning and take pride in their work and achievements.’

‘The number of pupils reaching the expected levels in reading, writing and mathematics has risen across the school to above average at the end of Key Stage 1 and to markedly above average at the end of Key Stage 2.’

‘Teachers have high expectations of pupils’ learning and achievement.’

As identified in the report, our targets for improvement are:

To improve the quality of teaching  so that more of it is outstanding
To make better use of progress data and to increase  middle leader’s responsibility for school improvement
To improve the early years provision by assessing children’s achievement in all areas of learning
